INTRODUCTION: support gear A person applying for Support Gears may apply for a maximum of 3 support gears, each taking an individual ability slot of their own. To apply for a support gear, it is also required to thread with and list the member with the Engineering skill. Support gear should enhance someone’s quirk in some way or provide a benefit that they didn’t already have. Capture tools and other weaponry cannot be created here and will fall under Weapon Training! When it comes to designing what support gear can do it is best to draw from the well of what quirks are capable of, obviously we don't want support gear that could possibly give a single character multiple quirk like abilities and the like, or perhaps a piece of support gear that treads on another character's quirk too closely. In these instances we'd recommend to read through the Who's Who to make sure that your support gear you're making doesn't tread too closely to someone's quirk. When it comes to support gear that is capable of doing what certain skills do, generally the more it's able to do the worse each ability of the gear is. Support gear is unique in that it is possible to supplement your quirks own abilities with it, making support gear that adds new functions to what your quirk can do or supplements the utilization of your character's quirk in a unique way. For support gear like this you are capable of using the destructive power of your quirk but the gear will come with inherent drawbacks that come from the level the support gear is. So even if your quirk has a 9 post timer your support gear would likely have less post usage, or may cause your characters drawbacks to onset faster such as exhaustion. Though feel free to fully experiment with what you want to do with your support gear and find the balancing that works right for you! Support gear can cover a much wider range of abilities than that of a normal skill since it is a set of specialized tools. That said things like a gun would not fall under the support gear system because that would be inherently a gun or weapon. Capture gear such as Aizawa's scarf would also not fall under the support gear system instead being part of the weapon training skill! Support gear needs to be approved in all four of its ranks before it can be applied to your character or the character of another you are crafting it for! To do this please go into the Engineering System of the Locker Room and fill out a Support Gear template, then contact staff via the Discord for approval of the gear! It is to note that character's can only have upwards of 3 support gear on a single character, this does not mean that a single character cannot create more than 3 support gear items though! Additional support gear items must be created for other characters however, as long as they don't reach this upper 3 limit. You can create your support gear within the Support Gear Index using the template found there and once you're finished please contact-staff and we will get to it right away! Those with the engineering skill can create Support Gear with the following levels equivalent to their engineering rank.

>Bronze: Support gear at the bronze rank should be something that either lacks an inherent power or not obviously useful at a glance, support gear at this phase is very much in the design process and may undergo many revisions down the line to improve it's usage. It is often something simple, such as a tracking device or a GPS or something that isn’t entirely at the highest level of strength it could be at. Anything ranged is usually limited to about 10 feet or can be used for 3 posts, though the numeric stats of your support gear are dependent to the items drawbacks so numbers my fluctuate.
Example: Grappling Hook Mark 1: A simple rappel that has the ability of wrapping around a branch or another existing foothold to help the user get up. It can go upwards of 10 feet and can hold a weight of up to 100 lbs.
>Silver: Support gear at a silver rank is something more advanced; either involving some robotics or tweaking an older piece of gear. It is often more complex than bronze, making use of drones and other more technical gear or something that is merely a more advanced version of one of a previously bronze support gear. Anything ranged is usually limited to about 20 feet or can be used for 5 posts, though the numeric stats of your support gear are dependent to the items drawbacks so numbers my fluctuate.
Example: Grappling Hook Mark 2: A moderately designed rappel that has the ability of wrapping around a branch or another existing foothold, and can create footholds within wooden structures. It can go upwards of 20 feet and can hold a weight of up to 150 lbs.
>Gold: Support gear at a gold rank is something that is well designed and simple to use with a sizable impact; either involving more use of suits or tweaking an older piece of gear. It is often more complex than silver taking use of combining different features with more technical gear or something that is merely a more advanced version of one of a previously silver support gear. Anything ranged is usually limited to about 30 feet or can be used for 7 posts, though the numeric stats of your support gear are dependent to the items drawbacks so numbers my fluctuate.
Example: Grappling Hook Mark 3: A well-designed rappel that has the ability of wrapping around a branch or another existing foothold, and can create footholds within stone structures. It can go upwards of 30 feet and can hold a weight of up to 200 lbs.
>Platinum: Support gear at a platinum rank is something perfected; either gear that involves something fully robotic or a tweak of an older existing piece of gear. It is often the perfected version of the gold-ranked ones, making use of armored suits and other more technical gear or something that is merely a more advanced version of one of previously gold support gear. Anything ranged is usually limited to about 40 feet or can be used for 9 posts, though the numeric stats of your support gear are dependent to the items drawbacks so numbers my fluctuate.
Example: Grappling Hook Mark 4: A masterwork rappel that has the ability of wrapping around a branch or another existing foothold, and can create footholds within steel structures. It can go upwards of 40 feet and can hold a weight of up to 300 Lbs.
